​After receiving the Bachelor of Arts in Classical Guitar Performance from the Philadelphia Musical Academy (now University of the Arts), Tony Ventura worked with such artists as Sammy Davis Jr., Melba Moore, Jimmy Darrin and Mitzi Gaynor, including television appearances on the Johnny Carson Show, as well as with legendary talk-show hosts Phil Donahue, Mike Douglas and Merv Griffin. For nine years, Mr. Ventura toured extensively as a guitarist, singer and composer with Broadway entertainer Ben Vereen. In addition to touring, Mr. Ventura participated in recording sessions in Philadelphia, New York and Los Angeles. Mr. Ventura teaches jazz guitar to non-majors through the Department of Music and performs regularly with the Don Eaton Band, a 10-piece ensemble specializing in weddings and corporate events.

In the mid-1980s, Mr. Ventura began studying computer technology, specifically programming techniques and music recording software. He has more than 20 years experience in information technology and currently works as an IT trainer and consultant, developing, implementing and coordinating training for professional and staff development with Idea Integration. Mr. Ventura earned the Master of Science in System Design and Programming from Capella University, combining his IT skills and musical background in the development of an online system providing instruction to a Web-based audience in jazz improvisation through chord changes:www.tonyventura.com. Mr. Ventura developed four instructional sections of the Noteflight online music writing application and uses the system in his classes to help teach chord studies, finger exercises, scale studies and sight-reading, as well as other elements of the guitar developmental literature.
