Vocal Overview
​The vocal area provides outstanding instruction from respected faculty members and abundant, high-quality performance opportunities. Degrees offered include the Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance, Bachelor of Music in Music Education, Bachelor of Arts in Music with a vocal emphasis, and Master of Music in Vocal Performance. Students are stretched and challenged to reach high levels of excellence in an atmosphere where they can at the same time find support and collegiality with fellow students and faculty mentors. Recent graduates of the vocal area have landed excellent teaching positions and have been accepted into some of the finest graduate programs in the country. Student Opportunities

Study in the vocal area is centered on instruction in the private studio. Vocal faculty members are excellent pedagogues who are committed to helping all singers reach their full potential. In addition to private instruction, UD offers students an enticing array of performance opportunities. UD choral ensembles are internationally renowned. The UD Opera Theatre produces fully staged public performances each year and the UD Opera Workshop provides students with opportunities to hone their stagecraft. Vocal study is rounded out by classes in vocal pedagogy, foreign language diction and vocal literature. Regular visits from guest artists give students additional opportunities for growth.
