Robert Brandt, baritone, is pleased to join the voice faculty of the University of Delaware for the 2007-2008 school year. He teaches applied voice, diction, and is co-director of the UD Opera Theatre. Mr. Brandt is currently finishing a doctoral degree at Indiana University where he studied with Costanza Cuccaro. He earned both an MM and BM in vocal performance from Brigham Young University studying with J. Arden Hopkin and Clayne Robison.

Mr. Brandt appears regularly on the operatic and concert stage in repertoire ranging from the Baroque to the 21st century. Recent operatic credits include Mandryka in Arabella, Pooh-bah in The Mikado, Sir Joseph in H.M.S Pinafore, Demetrius in A Midsummer Night's Dream, and Alfieri in William Bolcom's A View from the Bridge. Mr. Brandt has also been a concert soloist with the American West Symphony, Utah Baroque Ensemble, and the BYU Philharmonic Orchestra. He will perform with the University of Delaware Symphony Orchestra this December as baritone soloist in Brahms' Requiem.

Mr. Brandt has a particular love for art song and in particular for the German lied. He took part in KBYU-FM's radio broadcast celebrating the centennial of Hugo Wolf. The same radio station also broadcast his solo recital featuring settings of the poet Joseph von Eichendorff. Mr. Brandt participated four times in masterclasses of acclaimed collaborative pianist Roger Vignoles. One of these culminated in a public performance of Schubert songs under Mr. Vignoles' guidance.
