Michael Foster, Music Resources Supervisor (Music Librarian) for the Department of Music, has a bachelor's degree in music history and theory from the University of Richmond, and master's degrees in library science and music history from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and the University of Virginia, respectively. He has worked as a music librarian at the University of Illinois, Urbana, and the University of South Carolina. Mr. Foster is also a volunteer with the University's radio station, WVUD-FM, where he directs the station's jazz and classical music programming and produces and hosts programs of jazz and classical music. He has done similar work with radio stations in Illinois, Virginia and South Carolina. As a performer, Mr. Foster has appeared as narrator with La Chambre d'Anches, with trumpeter Alan Hamant and with the University of Delaware Chorale, as well as other Department of Music concerts. Mr. Foster has also provided program notes for the Newark Symphony Orchestra, the Wilmington Chamber Music Festival, the Eastern Shore Chamber Music Festival and concerts at the Grand Opera House and University of Delaware Department of Music. Mr. Foster also teaches a course in the History of Jazz at the University of Delaware.
