Del'Arte Wind Quintet
An ensemble of five dynamic and brilliant players in their own right, the Del'Arte Quintet explores the exciting and unique tradition of wind chamber music from the 18th century to the present. In diverse settings from the concert hall to the school classroom, the Del'Arte brings to its audiences the freshness and immediacy of the wind-instrument tradition.
As ensemble-in-residence in the Music Department of the University of Delaware, the Del'Arte performs a variety of music, often with guest artists, and has developed a unique and stimulating program for performance in the school setting.
Nurtured and inspired by the spirit of great North American and European wind players, the Del'Arte Quintet takes pride in continuing a tradition of outstanding wind chamber music and a devotion to the rich and varied music of the wind quintet.
Members of the quintet are Eileen Grycky, flute; Lloyd Shorter, oboe; Marianne Gythfeldt, clarinet; John David Smith, horn; and Jon Gaarder, bassoon. Del'Arte members are all active individually as recitalists and members of other performing ensembles. Their activities include national and international performances, coaching and recording.
