Christiana Winds
An ensemble of five dynamic and brilliant players in their own right, Christiana Winds explores the exciting and unique tradition of wind chamber music from the 18th century to the present. In diverse settings from the concert hall to the school classroom, Christiana Winds brings to its audiences the freshness and immediacy of the wind-instrument tradition.

As ensemble-in-residence in the University of Delaware Department of Music, Christiana Winds performs a variety of music, often with guest artists, and has been active commissioning new works for wind quintet.

Their recent recording of Cynthia Folio’s Seven Aphorisms for Woodwind Quintet won praise in the Flutist Quarterly of the National Flute Association. During the upcoming concert season the quintet will premiere a new work by composer and UD faculty member Jennifer Margaret Barker.

Nurtured and inspired by the spirit of great North American and European wind players, Christiana Winds takes pride in continuing a tradition of outstanding wind chamber music and a devotion to the rich and varied music of the wind quintet.

Members of the quintet are Eileen Grycky, flute; Jeff O'Donnell, oboe; Christopher Nichols, clarinet; John David Smith, horn; and Lynn Moncilovich, bassoon. Christiana Winds members are all active individually as recitalists and members of numerous other performing ensembles. Their activities include national and international performances, teaching and recording.
