Fightin' Blue Hen Marching Band
The 300-member University of Delaware Marching Band is known throughout the northeast as a performance ensemble with an innovative approach to entertainment and an emphasis on musicality. It is open to all students from all majors at the University. The UDMB performs for over 20,000 fans at all home football games, travels to select away games, and performs in exhibition at numerous high school marching band festivals. Marching Band instrumentation is comprised of traditional brass, woodwind and percussion (both battery and front ensemble). The UDMB also has a complete auxiliary ensemble made up of colorguard and twirlers. Auditions are required for students interested in these two areas. These auditions are held each May. Percussion is auditioned the first day of Band Camp and assignments are made at that time. Brass and Woodwinds undergo a marching evaluation and musical hearing the first day of band camp. Band Camp is held on campus the week prior to the start of fall semester classes and is required for all members. Please refer to the UDMB Web Site
