Facilities
Microcomputing Laboratory
The music Microcomputing Laboratory (MICROLAB, housed in
Room 116 in the Amy E. du Pont Music Building) is a
high-technology computing facility for exploring and making
music. Each of the 11 Windows stations and MacIntosh station
are fully equipped with the latest professional music sequencing
and notation software. Each station includes an Ensoniq MIDI
keyboard, at least one alternate sound module per station, and
TASCAM four-track portastudio units.
Several stations include alternate keyboards, high-end MIDI
tone generators, SMPTE time-code interfaces and digital
effects processors. All stations print to a networked Apple
Laserwriter Pro.
Music Technology courses are also taught in the MICROLAB.
Windows or MacIntosh screen presentations are displayed on a
large screen monitor. Since each station has email access
and a Web browser, the MICROLAB is always bustling with
activity.
