(Catholic University) D.M.A (Ohio State) 209 Amy E. du Pont Phone: 302.831.3161 Fax: 302.831.3589 Email Dr. James Prodan came to the University of Delaware from the School of Music at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro (UNCG) where he was Associate Dean and Director of Academic Programs. Prior to his administrative assignment, his primary teaching area was oboe for eighteen years at UNCG. He holds degrees from the Catholic University of America and The Ohio State University. He is a student of William Baker, James Caldwell and John Mack. Dr. Prodan has performed in solo and chamber recitals throughout the United States, Canada and Europe, including many world premiers. He has performed with the EastWind Quintet/Trio in residence at UNCG, the Greensboro Symphony, the Wheeling Symphony, the North Carolina Symphony, the Charlotte Symphony, the Winston-Salem Symphony, the Akron Symphony, as well as the United States Army Band in Washington D.C. He has appeared as soloist with The Ohio State University Chamber Orchestra, the Columbus Symphony, the Haiti National Philharmonic, the Columbus Symphony, and the Greensboro Symphony. He has taught at The Ohio State University, Otterbein College and the University of Akron prior to joining the faculty at UNCG. Dr. Prodan has published articles in many professional music journals and is past editor of a series on the "North Carolina Music Educator." He has authored an internationally acclaimed text, Oboe Performance Practices in the United States and Canada, now in its second edition, a new book entitled The Third Octave, a Study of the Altissimo Register and has recorded with the Cambini Wind Quintet on the Coronet label. Dr. Prodan served as Archivist of the International Double Reed Society and has been a member of its Executive Committee. In addition, Dr. Prodan was the founder and Director of the Community Music School of UNCG.
