Taggart-Grycky Duo

Flutist Eileen Grycky and classical guitarist Christiaan Taggart make up the Taggart-Grycky Duo, in residence at the University of Delaware. Over the past ten years the Duo's musicianship, charm and style have won them increasing acclaim from audiences and critics alike.

Finalists in both the Concert Artists Guild competition and the East-West Artists competition in New York, the Taggart-Grycky Duo performs on concert series throughout the U.S. and abroad. The Belgian press described the Duo's performance in Brussels as "breathtaking and virtuosic." The Wilmington News-Journal said that the "Duo should be heard again and again." After a Performance in Richmond, Virginia, The Times Dispatch said "the Duo's informality was infectious, one would start to introduce a piece and the other would interrupt... after which the Duo would turn in a sparkling performance."

The Taggart-Grycky Duo performs a series of concerts on campus and throughout the state of Delaware. Both Ms. Grycky and Mr. Taggart are faculty members in the Department of Music.

The Taggart-Grycky Duo's interest in expanding the flute-guitar repertoire has led them to seek out new works written specifically for the flute-guitar combination as well as old works that may have been overlooked or forgotten. Mr. Taggart has also arranged several transcriptions of music for the Duo. The Taggart-Grycky Duo's most recent recording includes Michael White's "Three Haiku" which was written for the Duo. Their earlier recording, "Romantic Music for Flute and Guitar", won praise from Hi-Fidelity and Fanfare magazines.
