New Master of Music graduate Meredith Bates, cello, was accepted to the Napa Valley Orchestral Institute in California, and the Siena Music Festival in Italy.
New Bachelor of Music in Music History graduate Andrew (AJ) Reitter accepted a full assistantship to the musicology graduate program at the University of Maryland.
New Bachelor of Music in Performance graduate Steven Sharp, trombone, has accepted a graduate assistantship to study trombone performance at the University of Memphis. He will have opportunities to study classical trombone with Dr. John Mueller and jazz with Howard Lamb of the Memphis Jazz Orchestra.
Master of Music graduate student Robbie Su Xu, viola, won an audition and accepted a position to tour with the Gui Yang Orchestra from China, and was also admitted on scholarship to the Green Mountains Chamber Music Festival.
New Bachelor of Music in Music Education graduate Frank Cannella, percussion, accepted a full assistantship/fellowship in percussion at the University of Miami Frost School of Music. This highly competitive position and fellowship include performance opportunities in the Henry Mancini Institute Orchestra at Miami. Frank fellow percussionist and music education grad Steve Scher, who is entering his second year as a G.A. at Miami.
New Bachelor of Music graduate Kenneth Brown has been accepted to Temple with a graduate assistantship and Rutgers for a masters degree in composition.
Sophomore violinist Mengjiao Li is the first UD student awarded a fellowship to attend the Aspen Music Festival and School. The prestigious fellowship covers tuition and room and board for the full 9-week festival, and Mengjiao will be studying with Paul Kantor of Rice University. This extraordinary honor has been granted to select students at major music schools like Julliard, Indiana, Michigan and Curtis.
New Master of Music graduate Andrew Gentzsch was awarded a full DMA position at the University of Iowa to study violin performance.
Junior flutist Jenna Knaster has been selected to a paid position to perform in the College Light Opera Company orchestra in Falmouth, Massachusetts, this summer.
Junior flutist Jacki Wahlquist has been selected to be an intern at the Academy of Music in Philadelphia.
