Ensemble Camps
Jazz Camp
The daily schedule will include rehearsals, sectionals, theory and improvisation classes conducted by UD Jazz ensemble director Tom Palmer. The week-long program concludes with a concert on Friday, June 20, at 7:00 p.m. in Loudis Recital Hall. The University of Delaware Jazz Camp is open to rising 8th-12th graders. Applicants must have the recommendation of their band directors/private teachers. Enrollment is limited and subject to instrumentation needs.
The University of Delaware Wind Ensemble Camp for Brass, Percussion and Woodwinds
The daily schedule will include musicianship classes, sectionals, master classes, and two large group rehearsals conducted by Dr. Robert Streckfuss. The week-long program concludes with a concert on Friday, July 10, at 7:30 p.m. in Puglisi Orchestra Hall. The University of Delaware Wind Ensemble Camp is open to rising 9th-12th graders, as well as college-level musicians. Applicants must have the recommendation of their band directors/private teachers. Enrollment is limited and subject to instrumentation needs.
Middle School Band Camp
The week-long program includes daily large-group rehearsals, sectional rehearsals, theory and aural skills classes as well as concerts and workshops by U of D faculty and local artists. The program concludes with a concert on July 17 at 7:00 p.m. in Loudis Recital Hall. Middle School Band Camp is open to rising 7th-9th graders, with a minimum of two years of playing experience. Applicants must have the recommendation of their band directors/private teachers. This camp is very popular. Be sure to register early. Enrollment may be limited due to instrumentation needs.
High School Choral Vocal Camp
This camp is a weeklong program that includes large group choral rehearsals, small ensemble singing, and classes in theory, ear training, and sight-reading. Dr. Paul Head, director of choral studies at the University of Delaware, will be the guest conductor of the large ensemble, which will rehearse daily. Students will attend interest sessions on choral literature, correct vocal technique and health, music careers and more! The week culminates with a final concert on Friday, July 31 at 7:00 p.m., in Loudis Recital Hall performing works with large and smaller ensembles. The University of Delaware Choral Camp is open to rising 8th-12th graders. Applicants must have recommendation of their choral directors/private teachers. Enrollment is limited and subject to a balanced performance ensemble.
Children's Choral Camp
The camp is a week long program that includes large group choral rehearsals, sectional rehearsals, creative music making and theory activities. The week concludes with a collaborative performance between the Children's Choral Camp and the High School Choral Camp in Loudis Recital Hall on Friday, July 31 at 7:00pm The Children's Choral Camp is open to rising 3rd through 8th grade students with unchanged (treble) voices. Applicants must be able to match pitch and have the recommendation of their choral directors/teachers.
