University of Delaware
Governor's School for Excellence

Each year the Department of Music hosts the music component of the Governor's School for Excellence. This one-week event, held in July in the Amy E. du Pont Music Building, includes chamber music coaching and master classes taught by Music Department faculty and alumni. It also includes performances by the faculty as well as classes in music literature and listening skills. An introductory session on music technology is usually featured. The students are coached by faculty in preparation for a performance given at a brunch for parents and guests at the end of the week. Each year, approximately 30 Delaware music students are selected for Governor's School by their high schools and the Department of Music audition committee.
