In addition to serving several hundred University students, both music majors and those from other disciplines that wish the further their music studies, the Department of Music acts as a community arts organization providing an array of musical experiences to area residents, from giving young children their first exposure to music, to assisting music professionals as they pursue advanced degrees.
• UD’s Community Music School
offers music classes for students of all ages, as well as the UD Children’s Choir, UD Youth Coral Ensemble, two steel band ensembles and numerous summer camps for students at all levels.
• The Summer Graduate Program
is a three-to-four year program for area music teachers to earn a Master of Music.
• Accomplished high school musicians gain experience through the Governor’s School for Excellence
, a week-long summer program hosted by the Department of Music.
• The Master Players Concert Series
brings world-class musicians to UD in a series of innovative, and often interactive, concert events, creating a cultural atmosphere on campus to rival neighboring cities.
