Governor's School for Excellence
Each year the Department of Music hosts the music component of the Governor's School for Excellence. This is a one-week residential program held in July for academically and artistically talented Delaware high school student who have completed their sophomore year.
Activities in the music component take place in the Amy E. du Pont Music Building and include chamber music coaching and master classes taught by Music Department faculty and alumni. The week also includes performances by the faculty as well as classes in music literature and listening skills. An introductory session on music technology is usually featured. The week culminates in a student performance for parents and guests.
Each year, approximately 30 Delaware music students are selected for Governor's School by their high schools and the Department of Music audition committee.
