Group Steel Pan
Our group steel pan class 'Family of Pan' is a great opportunity for students of all ages (9-99) to experience the excitement of playing in a steel band. Members will learn how to play and arrange a wide range of musical styles from the Caribbean and beyond. No musical experience is necessary and we provide the instruments during rehearsals.
Instructor: Joe Ambrosino
Structure: Saturdays 10:30am - 11:30am
Cost: $205 per term (Parents can register for free with paid child registration) Registration Closed.
Group Piano for Kids: Music Makers at the Keyboard
A continuation of our popular Music For Young Minds program, these small group lessons at the keyboard capitalize on your child's delight in making music with others and allow the children to have success quickly playing songs that they know. Through singing, dancing, drumming, and notation games, your child will learn to play by ear and read music in this sequential three year program. This class is for children ages 6-9.
Structure: Saturdays 11:00am - 11:50am (We are only taking Year 1/Second Semester students at this time). Year 1/First Semester will be offered in the Fall.
Cost: $230 per term ($180 + $50 materials) Books and materials are included. Registration Closed.
Group Piano for Adults
These classes are designed for adults who have little or no musical experience, or some musical experience, and who want to learn how to play the piano for fun. Nurturing the complete musician, this class features training in theory, technique, ear training and ensemble playing in a relaxed atmosphere. If you do NOT know how to read music, or have little experience on the piano, please take the Beginner Class before taking the Intermediate Class.
Wednesdays 7:00pm-7:50pm (Intermediate Class - This class is designed for students who can read music and can play simple melody and accompaniment pieces)
Thursdays 7:00pm-7:50pm (Beginner Class - This class is designed for students who do NOT know how to read music and have little to no experience on the piano)
Cost: $230 per term ($190 tuition+ $40 materials) Books and materials are included
Group Choral Workshop (Free)
The University of Delaware Community Music
School invites adult choir members and directors to join us for “Understanding Your Voice”, a vocal technique choral workshop on
Saturday March 2, 2013 from
10:00am-1:00pm. Although this is a free (no tuition or registration fees)
workshop, we ask that interested persons register for this event. Registration information can be found on our REGISTRATION page.
Participants will learn principles
and vocal techniques that will help build richer tone quality and better breath
support in choral singing. Session will include visual illustrations,
voice-building warm ups, and singing simple choral repertoire. The workshop
facilitator is UD Assistant Professor, Dr. Duane Cottrell. Dr. Cottrell is
currently Assistant professor of choral music education at the University of
Delaware, where he directs the Concert Choir and the University Singers, a
