Guiseppe Verdi's Otello

A brave and triumphant setting of Shakespeare’s great drama, Verdi’s Otello returns to the Met with Johan Botha singing the title role
opposite acclaimed star soprano Renée Fleming’s Desdemona, with Falk Struckmann as Iago and Semyon Bychkov conducting.

The product of a long and difficult collaboration between the composer and his librettist Arrigo Boito, the work shows the master composer late in his career, creating an opera that faces head-on both the challenge of Wagner and the traditions of the Italian stage.
