The Digital Music class is for those who like to tinker around with online music making! Class will focus on key aspects of music production including sound design, composition, sampling, beat-making and more. Students will immerse themselves in the professional producer’s toolbox, utilizing a free, online, Digital Audio Workstation called BandLab to engage in the various components of the class. Activities include software scavenger hunts, movie soundtrack compositions, and Beat Battles, where students make unique beats using the same sample. The only required piece of equipment is a computer (PC, laptop, or Chromebook) that can support Zoom. A MIDI keyboard is recommended but not required. Don’t have a MIDI keyboard but want to purchase one? For purchasing guidance, please reach out to CMS Director, Mary Margaret Wilson at email@example.com.

Yes! A PC, laptop, or Chromebook will work.
Yes, although an iPad would be using a different version of BandLab made for iOS, so the participant’s screen might not match up with the instructor’s screen. That being said, it still works if needed!
No, but it is recommended. For questions or suggestions on what to purchase, please contact CMS Director, Mary Margaret Wilson at firstname.lastname@example.org
