Music Theory I

9:00 am – 9:55 am

Amy du Pont Music Building, Room 109a

Registration Required: Register HERE (found under Class Type>Workshop) 

Tuition: Free to any CMS registered students, $40 for non-CMS registered students

Prerequites: Participants must be competent at note reading and basic rhythm.

This class introducing students to the fundamentals of music theory beginning a strong foundation of understanding how music works.  Topics will include sight reading/singing, building chords, key signatures, intervals, rhythm and much more.  The curriculum will build as the semester goes forward, and we ask that students make a commitment to attend all sessions.

Music Theory II

10:00 am – 10:55 am

Amy du Pont Music Building, Room 109a

Registration Required: Register HERE (found under Class Type>Workshop) 

Tuition: Free to any CMS registered students | $40 for non-CMS registered students

Prerequites: Participants must have completed the CMS Theory I Class OR email communitymusicschool@udel.edu to inquire

This class build upon skills introduced in Music Theory I. Topics covered will include modes, counting more advanced rhythms, sight singing, and part-writing.  The curriculum will build as the semester goes forward, and we ask that students make a commitment to attend all sessions.
