2021 Summer Camp

Musical Theatre Camp - On Stage!

The UD CMS Musical Theatre Camp is supported, in part, by a grant from the Delaware Division of the Arts, a state agency, in partnership with the National Endowment for the Arts. The Division promotes Delaware arts events on DelawareScene.com

Camp Description:  We are back and making music theatre this summer!  Join our full summer musical production right here in Newark – with Covid precautions, likely some odd staging and electronic instruments!  We are doing The Wind in the Willows in two separate pods.

Rehearsals, 7/6 – 7/26,  will be evenings (Monday – Friday, 6 pm – 9 pm) and possible weekends (Saturday and Sunday afternoons).  Specific schedule for each camper will depend on pod assignment after auditions on July 6. Campers will likely rehearse 4-5 times per week but exact schedule is still pending.

Full camp experience will be July 26 – July 30 (9 am – 4 pm).  Performances will be July 30 at 7 pm, July 31 at 1 pm and 7 pm.  All performances will be live streamed, and a decision about a live audience will be made at a later date. There will be a small fee for live stream pass for each performance to cover cost of license/mandatory fee of streaming service.

Please, no absences from camp during the final week as there will be technical rehearsals every day.  Other absences can be accommodated but may affect casting.

For those familiar with our program, there are some changes for this year, and things won't be quite the same as in previous years.  Detailed information about schedule and covid protocols will be provided shortly after registration.

Unfortunately, due to complications from covid, we are not running the Backstage Camp or having students perform in the Pit Orchestra.

All participants in Wind in the Willows will need to provide the following personal costume items: 1. A simple, inexpensive, long-sleeved black t-shirt; 2. simple, inexpensive black leggings or sweatpants; 3. white, inexpensive tennis shoes. All items may be manipulated (painted, cut, sewn, etc.) to create costumes and will likely not be able to be used again.

PAYMENT INFORMATION:  Fee for entire program is $500 including last full week of camp.  A deposit of $100 must be made at time of registration to reserve spot.  Spot is not reserved until deposit is received.  Remaining $400 must be paid July 1 – July 6.  A reminder email with payment link will be sent July 1. Refunds will be available if program does not run, but otherwise fees are non-refundable.  No CMS discounts (UD, siblings, etc.) are available for this program; however, financial aid is available.  Please email communitymusicschool@udel.edu for additional information and we would be happy to help.

Limited to 24 participants.  Registration begins April 22, and we expect the program may fill quickly.  Once full, a waiting list will be maintained until July 7.
