ablum cover

Kevin Cope earned a Master of Music in Composition and a Master of Music in Guitar Performance from the University of Delaware, and he is a well-known fixture of UD's Community Music School, where he has taught guitar for over a decade.

He brings his UD connections together in his upcoming CD Origins Unknown, which features 16 compositions ranging from solo guitar to duets to a guitar ensemble, with UD alums including:

  • Rachael Lipson, soprano
  • Benjamin Goldman, darbuka
  • Paula (Frechette) Campbell, flute
  • Hannah Eagelson, poetry

and UD Assistant Professor of Clarinet Christopher Nichols.

Cope has received two fellowships from the Delaware Division of the Arts for his composition work: the Emerging Artist Fellowship in 2011 and the Established Professional Fellowship in 2015. In 2019, he was awarded an Emerging Professional - Music: Solo Recital Fellowship, which partly inspired the performances on the new album.
