Solos - chose one work from the following:
- Saint-Saens: Sonata
- Messager: Solo de Concours
- Weber: Concertino
- Weber: Concerto No. 1
- Rabaud: Solo de Concours
- Osborne: Rhapsody
- Bernstein: Sonata
- Cavallini: Adagio and Tarantella
All undergraduate clarinet applicants should prepare all
major scales and arpeggios, two octaves or three octaves (E, F, F-sharp/G-flat,
G), and a three-octave chromatic scale from chalumeau E to altissimo E.

- Two contrasting etudes from the works of Polatschek, Uhl,
Jeanjean or Rose
- One classical or romantic solo work
- One 20th or 21st century solo work
- The following orchestral excerpts:
- Brahms - Symphony No. 3: solos from mvts. 1 and 2
- Mendelssohn – Scherzo: beginning to m. 48
- Beethoven - Symphony No. 6: solos from mvts. 1, 2 and 3
- Ravel – Daphnis and Chloe Suite No. 2: opening through 3
measures before rehearsal no. 158
