    ​Mark C. Adams is assistant professor of instrumental music education at the University of Delaware, where he teaches courses in music education and graduate research methods.Dr. Adams earned a Ph.D. in Music Education (Ethnomusicology cognate) from Michigan State University in 2017. His dissertation explored the lived experiences of two vernacular musicians who became music educators. While attending Michigan State, Dr. Adams taught songwriting for music majors and non-majors of music, and served as a graduate fellow at the Residential College in the Arts and Humanities. Dr. Adams holds a Master of Music and Bachelor of Music in Education degrees from the University of Nebraska, Lincoln.While in the public school setting, Dr. Adams taught vocal, instrumental and general music in Arizona, Nebraska and Wyoming. His writing has appeared in Music Educators Journal, as well as the upcoming Oxford Handbook of Preservice Music Teacher Education in the United States. He has presented at state conferences in Indiana, Massachusetts, Michigan, Nebraska and Wyoming; collegiate conferences in Michigan; the 2015 NAfME National In-Service Conference; the 2015 Ann Arbor Symposium IV: Teaching and Learning Popular Music; and had two research posters featured at the 2016 NAfME Research and Teacher Education National Conference in Atlanta, Georgia.

    Outside of the classroom, Dr. Adams is an active singer/songwriter and touring musician with writing, performance and production credits on several full-length albums and EPs.
