Biography
Anne Tatnall Gross holds a Bachelor of Arts from the University of
Delaware, a Master of Arts from Smith College and a Doctor of
Philosophy in Musicology from New York University. She received a
Fulbright Fellowship in London in 1964-65, where she studied the opera
overtures of Alessandro Scarlatti, and a Belgian American Educational
Foundation grant for research in Brussels and the Low Countries in 1993,
where she conducted research for her dissertation “The Livre septieme
des chansons à quatre parties of Phalèse: studies in music printing and
the book trade in the Low Countries, 1560-1660.”
She has published articles in Fontes artis musicae, the journal of the Music Library Association, and in the anthology Music Printing in Antwerp and Europe in the 16th Century (Leuven and Peer 1997), papers from a colloquium in Antwerp, Belgium.
Dr.
Gross has taught at the University of Maryland in College Park and New
York University, and since 1989 she has been an adjunct assistant
professor at UD, where she teaches appreciation of music. The Division
of Continuing Education gave her an Outstanding Teaching Award in 2000.
Since spring 2005, Dr. Gross has taught in UD’s two-year Associate in
Arts program, which is housed at Delaware Technical and Community
College in downtown Wilmington. She often teaches during Winter Term and
Summer Session on the main campus in Newark.
