Christopher Gage, adjunct assistant professor of music theory, has taught at the University of Delaware, his alma mater, since 2017. He holds a Doctor of Musical Arts in organ performance and a Doctor of Philosophy in music theory, both from the University of Kansas; his past teachers include Michael Bauer, James Higdon, David Higgs, William Porter, and David Herman. He has taught music theory at the collegiate level at the Eastman School of Music, University of Rochester, University of Kansas, and University of Delaware.​

Dr. Gage's research focuses on game show music of the twentieth century, and he looks forward to two upcoming publications. First, Unity, Ambiguity, and Flexibility in Theme Music for Game Shows: A Winning Combination, published by Palgrave Macmillan, will explore how music in this unique genre balances several competing production and gameplay interests. Second, he is a contributor to the forthcoming Oxford Handbook of Music and Television, in which he offers a close musical reading of one episode of The Price Is Right.​

He is also an active performer, giving organ recitals in the United States and abroad. He has earned praise for his style of organ playing, especially his convincing interpretations of the music of the North German Baroque. Recent recitals include those in Kennett Square, Pennsylvania (Longwood Gardens); Wilmington, Delaware; and Largo, Florida.​

Dr. Gage is Director of Music at Overbrook Presbyterian Church in Philadelphia. Aside from teaching music theory and playing organ, he enjoys cooking, baking and watching old sitcoms, although he will deny having seen every episode of The Golden Girls.​
