    Adjunct Assistant Professor, Music Management
    University of Delaware
Amy E. du Pont Music Building
    Newark, DE 19716

Since August 2005, Carrie W. Gray has served as the managing director of Wilmington Renaissance Corporation (WRC). In this role, Dr. Gray works closely with the board of directors, staff and key partners to accomplish the organization’s goal of “bringing big ideas to life.”

Currently, WRC is leading the establishment of Wilmington’s Creative District in the underutilized neighborhood west of Market Street. This economic development and creative placemaking initiative is facilitating the revitalization of the neighborhood, infusing new residential and unique work-space opportunities for current residents, artists, makers and tech innovators and establishing an enhanced identity and improved pride-of-place for the neighborhood.

Dr. Gray has worked for WRC since 1998 and is a highly engaged member of the community, serving on a number of nonprofit boards over the years. Dr. Gray holds a Doctor of Business Administration from Wilmington University in Wilmington, Delaware, a Master of Science in Public Relations from the S.I. Newhouse School of Communications at Syracuse University in Syracuse, New York and a Bachelor of Arts in Communication from Elon University in Elon, North Carolina. Dr. Gray’s doctoral dissertation, Board Impact on Nonprofit Executive Burnout in Eastern States, was published in April 2015. She has also presented at national and regional conferences and has had a number of articles published in national and local publications.
