Eileen Grycky, associate professor of flute at the University of
Delaware, received the University's Excellence in Teaching Award in
1999. She performs with two ensembles-in-residence at UD: the Del'Arte
Wind Quintet and the Taggart-Grycky Flute and Guitar Duo. Both the
quintet and the duo have been active in commissioning many new works by
composers including Robert Maggio, Daniel Dorff, Cynthia Folio, Peter
Flint and Jennifer Barker.
Ms. Grycky is a member of the
orchestra of the Opera Company of Philadelphia and the Delaware Symphony
Orchestra (DSO). In addition, she maintains a busy performing and
recording schedule with Brandywine Baroque, a noted period instrument
ensemble based in Wilmington, Del. She appears on many CD recording with
Brandywine Baroque as well as the Taggart-Grycky Duo and Del’Arte.
Grycky has appeared as a soloist on several occasions with the DSO, the
Mozart Orchestra of Philadelphia, Ensamble American in Montclair, N.J.,
and the Newark Symphony in Newark, Del.. She has also been a frequent
substitute in the Philadelphia Orchestra. In 2009 she was awarded an
Established Artist Fellowship by the Delaware State Arts Council.
graduate of the Oberlin Conservatory and the New England Conservatory,
Ms. Grycky lives in Wilmington with her husband, Michael Keller, former
principal tuba of the DSO.
