    Biography

Tamara Lyn Smith manages and analyses financial operations, human resources, graduate funding, procurement, grant writing and financial reports for the Department of Music and supervises press and publicity materials for the department, including the season brochures, recruitment brochures and other promotional resources, as well as purchased advertising, media relations and photography and the department’s website.

In addition to her work with publicity and finances, Ms. Smith handles administrative responsibilities, including publicity, contracts and concert details, for the Master Players Concert Series, which brings world-class musicians and ensembles to campus in an annual season of innovative and interactive concert experiences.

Ms. Smith has been with the Department of Music since 1994 and has held several positions over the years including scheduling and event management. She received a Master of Public Administration with a focus in nonprofit management in 2000 and has Bachelor of Arts with a minor in vocal performance, both from UD.

In addition to her work for UD, Ms. Smith has done event-consulting work for the Delaware Division of the Arts conference and the Delaware Chamber Music Festival (DCMF). As a volunteer, she has been involved with several arts nonprofits including DCMF, Distant Voices Touring Theatre and Delaware Classical Showcase. Ms. Smith shares her love of the arts with her two daughters, and her recent volunteer work is more focused on her family as fundraising chair of the Parent Teacher Association at their school and president of the First State Gymnastics Athletic Association.
