Biography
​Tamara
Lyn Smith manages and analyses financial operations, human resources,
graduate funding, procurement, grant writing and financial reports for
the Department of Music and supervises press and publicity materials for
the department, including the season brochures, recruitment brochures
and other promotional resources, as well as purchased advertising, media
relations and photography and the department’s website.
In
addition to her work with publicity and finances, Ms. Smith handles
administrative responsibilities, including publicity, contracts and
concert details, for the Master Players Concert Series, which brings
world-class musicians and ensembles to campus in an annual season of
innovative and interactive concert experiences.
Ms. Smith has
been with the Department of Music since 1994 and has held several
positions over the years including scheduling and event management. She
received a Master of Public Administration with a focus in nonprofit
management in 2000 and has Bachelor of Arts with a minor in vocal
performance, both from UD.
In addition to her work for UD, Ms.
Smith has done event-consulting work for the Delaware Division of the
Arts conference and the Delaware Chamber Music Festival (DCMF). As a
volunteer, she has been involved with several arts nonprofits including
DCMF, Distant Voices Touring Theatre and Delaware Classical Showcase.
Ms. Smith shares her love of the arts with her two daughters, and her
recent volunteer work is more focused on her family as fundraising chair
of the Parent Teacher Association at their school and president of the
First State Gymnastics Athletic Association.
