BROOKE H. JOHN​SON, ​​Director

Assistant Professor of Music

Dr. Johnson joined the faculty of the School of Music in June 2024. In addition to being Director of the 300+ member Fightin’ Blue Hen Marching Band, she is also the Co-Director of the Symphonic Band and Instructor of the Marching Band Techniques course for music education majors. She grew up in Newark, Delaware and is a proud alumna of the University of Delaware.

JAMES P. ANCONA, Assistant Director

Associate Professor of Music

Mr. Ancona joined the faculty of the School of Music in 1995. In addition to being the Assistant Director of the 300+ member Fightin' Blue Hen Marching Band, he is also Director of the Basketball Pep Band, Co-Director of the Symphonic Band, and instructor of music and education methods courses.

RAUL REYES, Colorguard Director

Mr. Reyes joined the UDMB with an extensive history of instruction and design in the marching arts. He has worked with color guards and winter percussion programs nationally including founding Apex Winter Guard, a WGI World Class program located in Delaware. Currently, Mr Reyes is the DIrector of Color Guards at James Madison High School in Vienna, Virgina. When not with the UDMB, Mr. Reyes is the Compliance Officer for the Delaware Division Of Medicaid and Medical Assistance. He is a proud alumni of the University of Delaware having received a Master's in Public Administration and Bachelor's Degree in Economics.

DEENA FRANK, Golden Girl Instructor

For over 20 years, Mrs. Frank ran the Silver Starlite program in New York where members of the program won numerous state, regional and national titles in team and solo events. She is the former director of numerous NBTA contests and the New York State NBTA competition. Currently, she is an active NBTA national twirling judge and instructor.
