Did you know that in Hawaiian “ukulele” translates to “jumping fleas”? That’s because when the instrument was first introduced, people thought the players’ fingers looked like fleas jumping across the fretboard!
3rd-8th grade students are invited to come get their fingers jumpin’ as we jam out together in this class geared toward novice to intermediate players! Participants must provide their own ukulele, however, if assistance is needed with obtaining an instrument, please contact CMS Director, Mary Margaret Wilson at mmbw@udel.edu.
Common chord structures, strumming techniques, and songs will be taught as well as opportunities for students to create their own music! If you joined us in the Fall, you are welcome to re-enroll this Spring! The teachers will accommodate learners of varying abilities and experience levels!
Students will perform in our culminating concert, "Showcase", in Loudis Recital Hall!
Space is limited - don’t delay!
