The University of Delaware School of Music
vocal area provides outstanding instruction from respected faculty
members and abundant, high-quality performance opportunities. Degrees
offered include the Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance, Bachelor of
Music in Music Education, Bachelor of Arts in Music with a vocal
emphasis and Master of Music in Vocal Performance. Students are
stretched and challenged to reach high levels of excellence in an
atmosphere where they can at the same time find support and collegiality
with fellow students and faculty mentors. Recent graduates of the vocal
area have landed excellent teaching positions and have been accepted
into some of the finest graduate programs in the country.

Study
in the vocal area is centered on instruction in the private studio.
Vocal faculty members are excellent pedagogues who are committed to
helping all singers reach their full potential. In addition to private
instruction, UD offers students an enticing array of performance
opportunities. UD choral ensembles are internationally renowned. The UD
Opera Theatre produces fully staged public performances each year and
the UD Opera Workshop provides students with opportunities to hone their
stagecraft. Vocal study is rounded out by classes in vocal pedagogy,
foreign language diction and vocal literature. Regular visits from guest
artists give students additional opportunities for growth.
Voice Minors and Honors/Merit Lessons

All Voice Minor, Honors, and Merit auditions will be virtual for Fall 2021. Students are asked to provide a link to or video recording (audio is acceptable) of ONE piece from any genre (with or without accompaniment) that best showcases their vocal abilities; the video must be uploaded to the Google form below with other information about the student's major and musical background. The recording does not have to be of an especially high quality and may be made with a smartphone, tablet, or computer without editing capabilities. Capacity is quite limited for the upcoming year, so please complete the Google form (with the included recording or link) by Sunday, August 29.
