Lynn Moncilovich

Biography

Lynn Moncilovich is an active educator and clinician in the Mid-Atlantic area. In addition to her appointment at the University of Delaware, she maintains a large private teaching studio and serves on the faculty of the Peabody Bassoon Week and Master Players festival. Prior to teaching at UD, Ms. Moncilovich maintained a teaching studio upward of 20 students in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area. As a highly sought-after clinician, Ms. Moncilovich has presented masterclasses across the United States.

Ms. Moncilovich is currently the contrabassoonist of the Lancaster Symphony Orchestra and second bassoonist with the Apollo Orchestra. As an active freelance musician, she has performed with the National Philharmonic, Maryland Symphony Orchestra, Maryland Lyric Opera, Concert Artists of Baltimore and the pit orchestra at the Hippodrome Theatre. She has also served as the second bassoonist with the Mid-Atlantic Symphony and Two Rivers Chamber Orchestra. While in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area, Ms. Moncilovich performed with the Dallas Chamber Orchestra, Los Colinas Symphony Orchestra, Sherman Symphony Orchestra and the Camerata Winds.

Originally from Johnstown, PA, Ms. Moncilovich received her Bachelor of Science in Music Education from the Indiana University of Pennsylvania where she studied with Dr. Jason Worzbyt. While in Pennsylvania, she served as the second bassoonist/contra bassoonist with the Johnstown Symphony Orchestra.  Ms. Moncilovich then began studies at the University of North Texas, where she received her Master of Music in Bassoon and studied with Kathleen Reynolds. At UNT she held a teaching fellowship where she taught woodwind methods and coached chamber music. Ms. Moncilovich is a featured soloist on the UNT Wind Symphony's recording of Gordon Jacob's Concerto for Bassoon on the GIA Composer's Collection—Gordon Jacob CD. She also holds an Artist's Certificate from Southern Methodist University where she studied with Wilfred Roberts and held a teaching assistantship in reed making. Wishing to further her skills as a performer and knowledge of bassoon solo literature, she earned a Graduate Performance Diploma at the Peabody Conservatory where she studied with Philip Kolker. Ms. Moncilovich has been the recipient of many awards and scholarships including the American Bassoon Company Award, Aegon USA Scholarship and the UNT Deans Camerata Scholarship.
